Since its inception about 20 years ago, my company has been really stable. Oil price has dropped a few times before that saw many companies laying off their staff, but for my company that has never been an issue. Nobody has been terminated.
This time around, when even the bigger operators like Shell decided to downsize, deep down I knew that this movement is inevitable. My company will also have to bite the bullet.
And so, for the first time in company's history, the retrenchment happened. Last week, a number of our dear friends have to leave us. It was indeed a gloomy milestone. I felt like a huge cloud has casted a really dark shadow on top of us.
